The Daily Snap – August 2

Yesterday Samantha and I went to the Canmore Folk Music Festival specifically to see one of Canada’s blues legends, Matt Andersen. If you ever get a change to see this man live, you MUST go, you will be amazed! Plain and simple. I could go on and on about Matt, but for a small sample of this man’s talents (winner of the 2010 International Blues Challenge in Memphis) see the video below. Thanks Sam for the daily snap with one of my music heros!

Awesome! I saw Matt play here in Kitchener last winter when he was touring with Stuart MacLean and the Vinyl Cafe. It was one of the most amazing live performances I have ever seen. Glad to see others have discovered him too!

I’ve seen Matt at the Fredericton Jazz & Blues Festival, fantastic and I was very happy to hear about his International Blues Challenge win in Memphis. He had some really tough competition, but if you get to see him live, you will see why he did win the competition. Matt has some fantastic CD’s out there, check them out.

I also travelled to Canmore to see Matt Andersen (I see Matt play whenever / wherever possible). An amazing talent and a great person.
For interest, here are some other “hard to find” YouTube links:
1) Search: Matt Andersen – O Holy Night (for his performance from the 2009 Vinyl Cafe Christine Tour). Not a dry eye in the house! Thanks to techy72. Note that Matt will be touring with the Vinyl Cafe again this fall/winter.
2) Search: Matt Andersen IBC. This will identify video’s of Matt’s International Blues Challenge (IBC) winning performances. Just fantastic.
FYI: Matt’s recording a Christmas CD this summer. Yeah! This will be a treat for sure.
