Weekly Photo – Feb 12

©Darwin Wiggett - Elbow Falls

This image was taken one foggy morning recently at Elbow Falls in Kananaskis Country just west of Calgary along Highway 66. I got there before sunrise and made long exposures with my Canon EOS Ids Mark III and a Canon 17mm TS-e lens. This photo was an 8 second exposure which was long enough to record the misty fog and the water moving through the scene. I like the blue cast that daylight white balance gave to the scene.

  1. What a great perspective with amazing DoF. I also like the cold mood created with the daylight WB.

  2. Lovely, Darwin. I also love playing with WB and have used this technique to really pump up the ‘brrrr’ factor. Well done!

  3. Great composition and the WB you chose definitely ups the chilly feeling. I also really like the way the edges of the ice contrast with the silky flowing water.

  4. Fantastic photograph, Darwin.

I totally agree on that cool, blue cast that I can taste somehow…wet, cold and a fresh reminder of the unique moods of winter.
Thank you for sharing this inspiring piece.
