Travel Photo Contest – Dan Lewis

My wife and I recently arrived home from a month long trip to Portugal and Spain. This was my first time overseas and it was mind-blowing! This is an image from Barcelona Spain. We are standing at Puerto de Barcelona looking toward Tibidabo hill. Yes, the image is very chaotic, but I feel it draws the viewer deeper into exploring every detail. You can see in the far distance on top of the hill Torre Collserola and Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor. I love how the atmospheric distortion adds to a heavy sense of depth. I have many images of cathedrals and castles, but this is one of my favourite so far because of the fact that it is not just another tourist shot. As photographers we are constantly challenged to portray our vision. When it all comes together, there is nothing like it!!
