The Daily Snap – August 23

We were lucky enough to visit Old Crow, the Yukon’s most northerly community. Samantha has a description of the events that happened to us there on her blog – check it out for more info. I first noticed the sign above in Old Crow but later we saw in various spots around the Yukon. Sled dogs are still a big part of life in the north (even if the temperature wasn’t good for dog sledding on the day we visited). One of the sled dogs we saw in Old Crow was off his chain and had made himself a nice bed on the main road in town, He didn’t move even when quads raced on the corner. In the heat, sled dogs just rest, no matter what.

  1. Just like the dogs in Gold Hill. They plop themselves in the middle of the road and expect people do go around them and we do!
