This Weeks Photo Contest Winner and more
This week’s winner of the the How to Photograph the Canadian Rockies Photo Contest is Dawn Traverse with an excellent abstract image of canoes at Moraine Lake – click on this link to check it out!. Thanks to Samantha Chrysanthou who was this week’s guest judge and who picked Dawn’s photos out of hundreds of excellent entries.
Speaking of the Canadian Rockies; check out the great slide show that Stephane Hachey posted from the Winter Magic Tour that he did with me this past winter. Great job Stephane!
And finally if anyone is interested in either of the following tours coming up this year, we have had one cancellation in the Fall in the Canadian Rockies 2011 tour and one cancellation in the Nordegg Mine and Columbia Icefields Photo Tour 2011. These tours are photography-intensive small group size tours to secret spots and hot stops in the Rockies. To learn more about either of these tours see this link or contact Alan at the Aurum Lodge to register (info@aurumlodge.com).

Thanks for posting my slideshow Darwin. And thanks again for being the best guide a photographer could have in the Canadian Rockies, your tours are just amazing.

Canoes at Moraine Lake by Dawn Traverse winning this contest is a bad joke, Right? If this is what your judge considers to be symbolic of Canadian Rockies I’m sure glad that I did not post an entry only to realize that you really didn’t want photos of the Rockies but rather colorful abstract art forms. Next time you have a contest it might be a good idea to explain whether of not you want abstract art photos or actual photos of the subject you have chosen.

Hi Bill, I totally understand your point-of-view. The contest is open to any subject matter as long as it was shot in the Canadian Rockies. I obviously did not make that clear in the contest announcement. So don’t blame the judge, she just picked an image she liked considering the open nature of the contest. So far we have had two landscapes as winners, one wildlife shot, and one abstract. I hope you’ll enter and now you know any subject is open! Darwin

lovely shots! Very different from australian landscape!
Hi Darwin, I dont know how else to get in touch with you, but would like to ask if there’s any chance your ebook on tilt shift will be out soon? My friend and I are travelling in 3 weeks, both have T-S’s and would love some tips ASAP!
Thanks, Chris
