I have yet to develop film that I took last week so for this Fabulous Film Friday, I am pulling an image from the archive. I photographed these two ‘animal actors’ (dogs trained for the movies) with my Canon EOS-1n and a 15mm fisheye lens about 10 years ago. The Border Collie was trained to hold things on his nose and would do so for hours given the right motivation. The animal training is right behind me holding pieces of wieners for the dogs (the right motivation). Both of these dogs love wieners, just check out the excitement in their eyes! An overcast sky acts as a big bright soft box to perfectly illuminate the dogs.

I was at a friend’s house taking pictures of her new twins, Megan and Victoria, and she mentioned that their dog, Marley, had looked really cute in a swaddle. Since she was going to swaddle the twins for a picture anyway, we all agreed that perhaps she should be swaddled too! I think the twins enjoyed it a little more than Marley did but she was a good sport! ~ Tracey Tomtene

This was the view along the Bow River in Cochrane on the walk yesterday morning with Brando. Welcome to spring in Alberta!

For those who saw the Into the Field with The Pros video of last week, you’ll know I like my granola bars almost as much as I like gear. My camera bag always has a few granola bars in it, but on longer hikes I need more sustenance so I make sure Brando helps me carry a few extra snacks into the field – thanks my four legged slave, I mean friend!
