Last year Samantha and I spent a 3-day weekend with the Grand Prairie Photo Club where we taught an intensive workshop style program we dubbed PhotoCram. The good folks in Grand Prairie liked the event so much that they are having us back again this year for PhotoCram II to be held September 9-11, 2011. This year Sam and I have all new seminars and new assignments for the club. the good news is that the GP photo club has opened up PhotoCram II to the general public and has announced space for 8 more participants. To see what we are doing at PhotoCram II just click on this link to get the detailed schedule of events

If you want to hang out with a fun crew of photographers, the GP Photo Club can’t be beat! Sam and I had to have a stomach operation after the event from laughing so much! For more information, pricing and to register check out the GP Photo Club website.

The Grand Prairie Photography Club – PhotoCram Weekend

Posted in Workshops and Seminars with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 15, 2010 by Darwin

This past weekend (Sept. 10 to Sept 12) Samantha and I led a PhotoCram Weekend Workshop with the Grand Prairie Photography Club in Grand Prairie, Alberta. What is PhotoCram?  Well, we like to think of it as an immersion in photography designed to boost your creative and technical skills.

Over the course of the weekend, we gave four one hour lectures; Camera Controls Made Easy, The Camera and the Creative Eye, Personal Style and Creative Vision and How to Make Money with Your Photography. As well, the participants were teamed up to do several photography assignments in the field designed to increase their understanding of both the technical aspects of the craft as well as the artistic side of creating images.

Sam and I did student image critiques at the start of the weekend and at the end of the assignment session. We were really pleased by the amount of improvement we saw over the course of the weekend, so much so, that we wanted to share the images turned in by the students for the assignments. So each day for the next several days Sam and I will alternate presenting 5 images on our blogs from the PhotoCram participants for your enjoyment. If any other camera club out there wants us to come by and give you a custom PhotoCram weekend just drop us an email! But be warned, you’ll have a tough time surpassing the hospitality, enthusiasm, and fun of the Grand Prairie Photo Club!
