Photo of the Week – Week 2 – August
Along the old highway in Banff National Park are several old wrecks. Few people know about these old relics in Canada’s oldest national park that sit in the forest forgotten in time. I have found lots of old debris from old cans, barrels, bridges, tires and wrecks simply by walking along the overgrown first highway in the mountain parks. I highly recommend to anyone interested in the history of the parks to hike the old highway!
I recently photographed this particularly lovely wreck in the tight quarters of its resting place by making a two horizontal images stitched together in a square by shifting my 24mm TSE Canon lens. I added a slight Orton blur to enhance the mood and mystery. I am really happy with the photo and the image will look beautiful printed on canvas!

What a find! This is just awesome Darwin.
Count me in as one of the people that had no idea these things existed in Banff. I love finding, exploring and photographing old abandoned things. I guess I’m going to have to go out exploring. I’ve heard that there are alos some remains of an old DC-3 plane somewhere in the Crowsnest Pass that I would love seeing too.

This is really pretty–I like the angle and the complementary colors in the forest and the care. However, I wouldn’t have wanted to be in that car when it got there!

It sure is cool to see this wreck amidst such a pretty setting. Very nicely captured and processed!
