The Daily Snap – September 16

©Darwin Wiggett
The other day when I woke up it was totally overcast and looked like it was going to rain (again!), so I headed into the office to get an early start on work. After awhile I noticed a orange glow coming through the blinds. I opened the blinds and almost crapped my undies! The sky was on fire! I knew I would have no time to gather up my ‘real’ camera gear and head out into the country for a shot. So I grabbed the G11 and ran out into the first street near my house looking east. I snapped this shot and within 5 minutes the sky was steely gray again. Ten minutes after that it was raining.

Yes that is the “Crap the sky is on Fire” photo op that I have been caught off guard too. Stunning!

Impressive. You even got a great composition in all that rush. Looks like Armageddon.

Awesome sunrise! Amazing how such stunning colours can appear for such a brief moment and be gone the next.

That is SOME sky, Darwin! Nice composition. The row of cars and houses adds perspective and the glow on all those things is really nice!

Holy CRAP! I missed THAT?! F me! (sorry for the language)
I am always up before sunrise. But I missed that (while being on the road).
Same thing this morning for like 3 minutes but not THAT spectacular. It was red then orange then RED AGAIN. But I knew I was too late when I was going to grab the gear so I just watched and enjoyed it.

I missed this shot, because I was on vacation at the time. But what a wonderful image. Interestingly enough I shot that day (evening) a sunset that set the sky over the Baltic Sea on fire.
